Teacher in costume teachers St. George's High School students.

Week of November 3

Halloween was eerily well-participated this year across both campuses with incredible costumes worn by students, faculty, staff, and even our canine friends (thanks for bringing your pups, Mr. Driedger). At the High School, costumes were witty and hilarious, including the Social Science department as “Jewel Thieves of the Louvre”, a bunch of bananas, a trio of dinosaurs, and more. The energy was playful as classes went on with students and teachers in full regalia.

At the Elementary School, the annual costume parade delivered pure joy. Teachers nailed the trending “6–7” group costume, and parent volunteers turned the Library into a legit scare zone, starring Beetlejuice and Octopus Man, amongst others. Students shrieked at pop up scares against a backdrop of spine-tingling decorations.

Thank you to our parent volunteers, faculty, and staff who ran games, wrangled lines, acted in costume, and transformed spaces with spooky décor. Your time, talent, and humour made the day unforgettable.

Grade 12 Pathway: A Confident Bridge to University

Grade 10 and 11 families gathered last week to explore how St. George’s Grade 12 Pre-University program builds a clear pathway from high school to university. Students earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with in-person teaching and time to practice the habits university demands: time management, research, and independence.

“A small cohort keeps the relational model front and centre. Deep relationships fuel deep learning.”

— Michael O’Connor, Head of School

Our advising model is hands-on. The Pre-University Coordinator, Nedim Agir, partners with each student to plan courses, shortlist target programs, and navigate applications from first email to offer. “It’s the next step toward independence, built in a familiar environment,” said Sarah Neeff, High School Principal. Co-curriculars and leadership continue throughout the year, giving seniors room to deepen portfolios and lead across the school.
