Head’s Fund 101

Tuition covers the essentials; the Head’s Fund fuels the extraordinary. As a vital source of annual funds, gifts to the Head’s Fund make a direct and immediate difference in the life of our school. Supporting teaching and learning, strengthening classroom practices, helping teachers introduce new approaches, deepening existing programs, and providing the ability to say “yes” to powerful experiential opportunities for students.

This discretionary fund empowers the Head of School to move quickly when opportunities arise—whether that means launching a new outdoor learning initiative, investing in resources that promote responsible and reflective technology use, deepening social-emotional learning, or ensuring that every child can participate fully in school life. Each donation sustains the creativity, inclusion, and curiosity that define our approach to teaching and learning.

The Head’s Fund enables students to create, explore, grow, and compete through experiences that foster confidence and leadership at every age. Here are a few examples of its impact last year.

Student and artist Bronwen Moen work on building the Water Defender Project.

One Drop Water-Art Project

In partnership with the One Drop Foundation and Studio Artefact, more than 175 elementary students participated in a school-wide art project to raise awareness about the importance of water and Indigenous Traditional Knowledge related to water. Creative workshops were designed to educate students, foster artistic expression, and encourage sustainable practices through social art.

At St. George’s, ecological education is a vital part of our mission and holistic approach to learning. Thanks to the generosity of our community support of the Head’s Fund, students across all grade levels at the Elementary School participated in a transformative experiential project in partnership with the One Drop Foundation.

Working alongside artist Bronwen Moen, students created a striking, large-scale social art Water Defender Puppet that explores themes of water access, environmental justice, and global citizenship. The piece—immense in both size and meaning—made its debut at last year’s Climate March. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making this opportunity possible.”

Your Generosity in Action

Every experience we bring to life begins with a simple but powerful question: What if our students could experience this? The Head’s Fund is what allows us to answer, Let’s make it happen.

When you give to the Head’s Fund, you are investing in moments of discovery, confidence, and connection that stay with our students for years to come. This is your generosity in action, shaping the St. George’s experience today and helping our community thrive long into the future.
