December in Review

Literacy Week Sparks Curiosity

From December 15 to 18, the Elementary School came alive with storytelling, creativity, and joyful reading during Literacy Week 2025. The week opened with a full-school assembly and the first “DEAR” moment—Drop Everything And Read—as every student, teacher, and staff member joined together with a book in hand.

Classrooms buzzed with activity: Celebrity Readers visited Kindergarten; Grade 2 students hosted an Artist-Writer’s Workshop; and the Library transformed into a Reading Café for Grades 4 and 5. Students also stopped by the Writing Station, solved daily Morning Riddles, and voted in the Battle of the Books. “We wanted the last week of school to feel relaxed but purposeful,” said Erin Mahoney, one of the members of the Literacy IL Team. “It was about emphasizing the importance and joy of literacy in French and English.”

The fun continued through the Grade 2 Cookbook Launch Party, Reader’s Theatre presentations, and a Kahnawake storyteller who captivated the Cycle 3 students. Teachers ended the week by handing out the Winter Break Reading Challenge, encouraging every Dragon to keep the pages turning through the holidays.

The Prom Shines Bright

This year’s musical, The Prom, lit up the stage with dazzling performances and heartfelt storytelling. Students wowed audiences with sharp acting, soaring vocals, and choreography that earned them standing ovations. Bravo to Director/Choreographer Amelia Haskell, Music Director Kyla Smith, and the talented cast, crew, and volunteers who made the production unforgettable. “The energy on stage was electric,” said a cast member. Holiday Concerts and the Joy of Music

The Junior and Senior Winter Concerts brought families together in celebration of music and community. Students performed with confidence and heart, filling the auditorium with songs that captured the season’s spirit.

“The concerts are a reminder that learning and joy go hand in hand. “Our students’ growth as musicians and collaborators shines through every note.”

Alumni Reunite at Reunions

The Class of 2015 returned to campus this month for their 10th Reunion, sharing stories, laughter, and updates with teachers and classmates. Touring through familiar halls, alumni saw how learning spaces have evolved while the school spirit remains timeless.
