Grade 7 for a Day: Exploring High School Life

More than 80 prospective students joined us for our Grade 7 for a Day experience this week, stepping into classrooms, meeting teachers, and getting a true feel for High School life at St. George’s. Visitors explored a range of classes—from Math and Science to Theatre, Music, Art, Physical Education, Drama, and Engineering—experiencing first-hand the energy and engagement of our learning environment.

Throughout the day, our student ambassadors played a leading role, accompanying guests to classes, answering questions, and offering a window into student life. “It was easy to talk to people here,” shared one prospective student. “I didn’t feel nervous once I got into the classes.”

While students were immersed in their classroom rotations, parents were invited to connect at our Parent Café, hosted by members of our Leadership Team and joined by current students and alumni. The conversations were lively, thoughtful, and centered around St. George’s progressive approach to learning, well-being, and the transition to high school.

Elementary School Open House

This past week also marked our Elementary School Open House, where prospective families explored our programs, met faculty, and heard directly from students about what makes St. George’s a place where young people thrive.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible parent tour guide volunteers and student ambassadors, whose partnership and pride in our school created an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Grade 8 Geography: Examining Montreal’s Rental Crisis

In Grade 8 Geography, students are deepening their understanding of Montreal’s rental crisis through a unit that examines the causes, consequences, and human impact of housing insecurity in large cities. While students often understand that homelessness can be connected to poverty or lack of affordable housing, this unit challenges them to think more critically about the issue and the people at the heart of it.

John Tessier from Advocacy for Montréal / Plaidoyer pour Montréal shared insights from his work supporting unhoused communities. Students were encouraged to reflect on what happens when residents and unhoused people share public spaces. The conversation opened space for curiosity, honesty, and growth. “I never really understood how complicated this issue is,” one student said. “It made me think about how I react to people instead of making assumptions.”

RSEQ GMAA Cross-Country Race: Proud Moments
