Alumni Spotlight: Jade Raymond

From St. George’s Student to Gaming Industry Trailblazer and Entrepreneur

Engineer turned producer and entrepreneur, Jade Raymond ’92’s career proves what can happen when lifelong curiosity meets unstoppable drive. A St. George’s High School alumna, she is a trailblazer behind some of the most iconic video games, helping shape how millions of people play, explore, and connect through interactive worlds.

Jade’s passion for gaming began early. Raised in Montreal, she brought equal parts imagination and analytical curiosity to everything she did. A self-described nerd, she explored robotics at a young age, read sci-fi, and spent hours playing video games with her sisters and cousins. In her late teens, she decided that gaming would be more than a pastime: it would be her future.

After graduating from St. George’s High School, Jade acquired a DEC in Pure and Applied Science at Marianopolis and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from McGill University. Within days of graduating, she began her first role as a game programmer at Sony, building the technical foundation that would guide her leadership grounded in the intricacies of game development.

She later joined Ubisoft, where she helped create iconic franchises such as Assassin’s Creed (with over 140 million copies sold) and Watch Dogs, and founded major studios including Ubisoft Toronto and EA Motive. In 2022, she founded Haven Studios, which was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment, making it the first PlayStation Studio in Canada. Jade also served as Vice President and Head of Games & Entertainment at Google.

Reflecting the values that define her career, Jade’s global success has only strengthened her commitment to the support that launched her journey. A champion for youth, Jade recently established The Jade Raymond Bursary, a transformative gift held in perpetuity that will be available annually to students at St. George’s in need of financial assistance. As a former student who received support to attend the school, her decision reflects a belief in the “cycle of generosity”: when a community invests in students, those students gain the confidence to pursue ambitious goals and, in time, can help open doors for others.
