Community Rallies for 48h Match Challenge

Last week, the St. George’s community demonstrated its deep commitment as we rallied for the ambitious 48h Match Challenge. In just two days, $78,145 was raised, providing momentum toward our $200,000 overall Annual Fund Campaign goal.

This year’s challenge was fueled by the Cuggy family, members of our Elementary School community, who recognize that donor support is key to enriching experiential learning opportunities and access to a St. George’s education. Through their generous matching gift, they empowered first-time donors and long-time supporters to see their giving amplified.

“Our family’s decision to give comes from a deep belief in St. George’s and its future. We want to contribute in a meaningful way that helps the school grow and ensures that both today’s students – and those yet to come – benefit from a St. George’s education. We hope our gift inspires others to step forward and support the School’s mission and its values.”

A Growing Culture of Giving

The energy surrounding the Challenge highlights the growing strength of our culture of giving. From the mobilization of volunteers who helped with outreach to the last-minute gifts that arrived in the final hours, the rally was a collective effort.

At St. George’s, we are building a culture where philanthropy is a shared responsibility. As a non-profit institution, community support enables us to move beyond the essentials covered by tuition, enhancing and expanding the opportunities that make our school unique. Every gift, regardless of size, is a vote of confidence in our mission and an investment in a more diverse and vibrant environment where every student has the potential to flourish.

“What makes St. George’s so special is the people behind it – the hundreds of individuals who care about this school and want to see it thrive well into the future. Every donor, every volunteer helps the school to grow, opens new doors for students, expands our network of partners, and strengthens a culture of giving that will last for years.”

Our impact is measured not just in dollars, but in the breadth of participation. This year saw the highest number of donors to the Match Challenge yet. From current families to alumni and friends of the school, the campaign saw support from many corners of our extended network. This effort was further bolstered by our faculty and staff, more than half of whom made a financial gift to the Annual Fund. Together, these contributions exemplify the community’s support of St. George’s core purpose.

Investing in Our Students

The funds raised through this challenge are directed toward two vital priorities of the St. George’s experience. The Head’s Fund enables students to create, explore, grow, and compete through experiences that foster confidence and leadership at every age. The Bursaries & Scholarship Fund removes financial barriers for talented students, empowering them to thrive and reach their full potential while enriching the diversity of our entire community.

“By investing in our programs and our people, your generosity helps St. George’s continue to set the standard for impactful learning, where the development of each child’s authentic self always comes first.”

— Michael O’Connor, Head of School

While the 48h Match Challenge has concluded, it’s never too late to support St. George’s — each contribution helps us say “yes” to new ideas and experiential learning opportunities that benefit all of our students.
