At St. George’s, Community Service focuses on providing students with experiences that enable them to understand how their actions can create a meaningful impact within the greater community. An important aspect of our Community Learning Program is the incorporation of these volunteering experiences into other aspects of the school curriculum.
Each St. George’s student in Grades 7-10 completes at least ten hours in a minimum of three volunteering sessions every year. Students select an organization which they feel matches their interests and values, and volunteer in a small group, often accompanied by a parent volunteer.
St. George’s students contribute over 5,000 hours of service in the community by partnering with over 25 organizations. Read our Community Learning FAQs for a quick review of the program.
This significant outreach is only possible by the support and commitment of more than 30 volunteers who guide and mentor our students as parent POD leaders. We invite you to join the team of volunteers who lead our students in their rewarding community engagements. St. George’s is always looking to diversify and to expand the repertoire of community organizations that we can support through the Community Learning Program!
