St. George's Summer School for Teachers, 2010
During the course of the year, our teachers were approached by Nathalie Bossé, Director of Curriculum and Director of the CLE, to discuss possible Professional Development programmes available during the summer months. Impressively, 19 of our teachers will be involved in some form of PD during their summer vacation time-frame. A summary of participation includes the following:
- Four teachers including Jaime Jeffries, Brian Foote, Emily Watts, and Stephanie Blum, will be attending a one week Summer Institute for academic diversity (SIAD) at the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia.
- Megan Webster will be attending a one week Summer Institute to be presented at Shelbourne farms, in Vermont, to further explore and understand community learning.
- Nathalie Bossé has been invited to Bloomingdon University, (Indiana) for a one week coach’s training programme to support teachers as they become more reflective practitioners.
- Donna Gold and Dani Jansen will be attending a teaching of writing workshop sponsored by Linda Reif at “La Sapinière”, Val David, Quebec. The intention of the workshop is to foster a better understand the development of the writing process of students.
- Ten teachers will participate in the Tammy Levy Summer Institute at St. George’s. This summer’s topic will be “The Meaningful Integration of Technology to Inspire Deeper Learning. Our presenters will be sponsored by LEARN Quebec (more details to follow).
