PILOT PROGRAM AT NEURO CULTIVATES FUTURE SCIENTISTS
As part of a collaborative research program, St. George’s students have been given the rare opportunity of working side by side on a weekly basis with some of the most noted scientists and researchers in the field of neuroscience, including Dr. Angela Genge, Dr. David Colman, and Dr. Bruce Pike. The Montreal Neurological Institute, one of the premier neuroscience centres in the world, has welcomed St. George’s science students as part of a tailored, hands-on experiential research and lab work program throughout their large facility and in a variety of settings and situations.
This has afforded these fortunate students invaluable out-of-classroom learning experience from world leaders in cellular and molecular neuroscience, brain imaging, cognitive neuroscience and the study and treatment of epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and neuromuscular disorders. “It is the first year of this pilot program”, states Scott Armstrong, Assistant Head Academics, “and so far, the results have been inspirational”.
