STEPPING-UP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING AT ST. GEORGE'S
This past summer, while the students of St. George’s were busy with their own interests outside school, teachers here were hard at work honing their skills as educators. It proved to be a very busy summer with many opportunities offered to St. George’s staff. Once again, St. George’s Centre for Learning Enrichment (CLE) continues to be at the forefront of child-centered professional development, ultimately resulting in enhanced student outcomes. AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY: HIGHLIGHT OF HUMANITIES ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
After many months of grueling interviews and tireless efforts, Megan Webster's 11th Grade Humanities class, part of a Humanities Enrichment project, witnessed the fruits of their labour. The documentary production, entitled "Life in an Open Prison," focusing on personal stories of the Cambodian Genocide, has been the source of public applause as well as personal growth for the participating students. FIRST MATH OLYMPIAD A SUCCESS
During the spring, St. George's experienced a first in the history of it's middle school Math enrichment program. The advanced Grade 7 and 8 Intensive Math students organized, with the support of their Math enrichment teacher, Erica Muzzerall, an afternoon of math brain teasers and thinking activities for the Grade 5 and 6 students.
